Things That Inspire Me

Flowers are thought to have evoked man's first comprehension of the concept of beauty. Over the centuries flowers have served as inspiration for countless artists and craftspeople and they continue to be a source of inspiration and symbolism in our everyday life. We give flowers to our loved ones and friends in mourning and in celebration, in times of sickness and in times of triumph. a flower can represent love, sympathy, or friendship...among other things. I am inspired by the many different varieties of flowers and all the different colors they display. I love to pick wildflowers and arrange them in vases around my house during the spring and summer. If you think about it, flowers are everywhere. We probably see hundreds of flowers each day, without even realizing it! Not only in ours or our neighbors' gardens, but in the gardens of our fellow citizens...on the clothing and accessories of our female co-workers, friends, and family...and in the artwork and advertising displayed throughout the various places we visit in our day to day life. Anyway, I just like flowers and they inspire me! :) I'm a sucker for floral prints, especially larger scale ones. I love to applique flowers onto things like quilts, purses or pillows. And when it comes to drawing, painting and scrapbooking, I love my floral motifs! Here are a few flower-ey things I've come across online that inspire me! Enjoy!

Don't you just love fabric flowers? I do! This mint green fabric flower by Jess at Craftiness Is Not An Option is just cute as a button! (pun intended :) I'll be making some of these this weekend for sure! You can too- just head on over to the tutorial by clicking here.

I love decorative toss pillows! I found this picture in google image and after some digging traced it back to it's original website- a UK online retailer called Really Linda Baker. Check it out here

Did I mention I love decorative pillows? I especially love DIY decorative pillows! Here is another cute pillow design, complete with a tutorial by Kristin at Ink Blots & Polka Dots. Click here for the tutorial!

How adorable is this? This is another google image find that I traced back to an online retailer. The seller, Old New Again, carries a lot of very cute shabby chic wall decor items, including distressed wooden signs,  monogram letters, and these awesome little mason jar vase wall sconces.
